LA Opera
An ambassador program that widened who BELONGS.
We were brought on to help one of the largest opera houses in the country close the diversity, equity and inclusion gap it had carried since inception, and designed the ambassador program that changed who walks through its doors.

Inside the WORK.
The Challenge
Where it STARTED.
Opera's perceived classism had long left underserved and underbanked communities feeling like outsiders, an imposter-like distance that shaped attendance, and ultimately the institution's future and legacy.
What We Did
The APPROACH.
-
01
Launched the LAO Ambassador program in 2022, inviting influencers who represent all of Los Angeles not just to attend the opera, but to experience it and bring others with them.
-
02
Grounded the work in who wasn't yet in the room, and why, so the welcome was genuine, not performative.
The Outcome
In its first year, the Ambassador program brought new, more representative audiences into the opera, and became a repeatable model for widening who feels they belong. (Partnership ongoing since 2022.)
