About

A Black-owned, woman-owned agency built to lead DIFFERENTLY.

Kara Sax and Tamara Keller built the agency they couldn't find. They kept watching brands they admired speak at the communities they most wanted to reach, well-funded, well-meaning, and somehow still missing. The gap was rarely budget or talent. It was perspective. So in 2012 they built a firm with that perspective at its core, disciplined like a consultancy, fluent like the communities it serves.

Kara Sax and Tamara Keller, founders of The Sax Agency, a Black-woman-owned multicultural marketing agency in Los Angeles.
Tamara and I connected because we are both purpose-driven individuals, we consume purpose-driven brands and therefore needed to build a purpose-driven agency.

What We Believe

Brands shape culture.Culture shapes communities.Communities shape LIVES.

That chain is the whole reason we exist. It's why we only take work where the outcome can improve lives, not just margins, and why we'd rather pass on a project than attach our name to one that won't. Our core values stay fixed; our strategies adapt to the moment. The world keeps changing, so the how evolves, but the why never does.

A chef plates a dish at a community program, the kind of work, rooted in real lives, that The Sax Agency exists to move.
Two strategists collaborating across a table, The Sax Agency's neo-corporate approach: consultancy rigor paired with cultural fluency.

The Neo-Corporate Approach

We work like a consultancy. We think like a COMMUNITY.

We're a hybrid by design. On one side, the rigor of a strategy consultancy: research, discovery, diagnosis, and measurement. On the other, the cultural fluency of a partner who actually understands the communities your work has to reach. Most agencies pick a lane, the buttoned-up strategy shop or the bold creative house. We refused to choose, because the brands that move people need both in the same room. We call it neo-corporate. You'll call it the reason the work lands.
